The Kindezi School In Atlanta Black History Program Receive Backlash After Blackface Performance

Parents are asking questions after school performance includes racist imagery.

“Y’all tell me…

Without context…

Is this blackface?

Update: so this was a portion of my son’s black history program at Kindezi Old Fourth Ward (a majority black charter school in a quickly changing gentrified neighborhood). In this portion they were reciting Dunbar’s “We Wear the Mask”. This is a second grade class speaking on how blacks folks had to code switch just to be seen/treated somewhat humanely/or live, and someone at the school thought it a good idea to do this!! I’m livid and when I posted on the school’s page, comments were turned off.

I’m so over this world y’all!!”

“So this happened at my kids Black history program today. 🤦‍♀️ Kindezi Old Forth Ward has to do better.
A lot of the moms are pissed and some are clueless.
The kids are second graders.”
