50 Cent raves about success of his show ‘POWER’: It feels like I just sold 13 million records

Like a proud poppa, Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson has been hyping up Season 3 of his hit show “POWER” at every turn.

From suited-up magazine covers to booming billboards, “POWER” is everywhere.

“It is the best show on TV, trust me,” 50 boasts on his Instagram page.

Omari Hardwick’s breakout role as “Ghost,” a NYC drug kingpin living a double life while trying to make it out of the game alive, has critics raving.

The challenges of power, love and loyalty are written compellingly by showrunner Courtney A. Kemp, with a strong supporting cast of characters that includes Nature Naughton, Lela Loren and Joseph Sikora.

As the show’s executive producer and recurring character “Kanan” (who like 50 seems to have nine lives), Jackson obviously has a huge stake in the show’s success.

After receiving mixed reviews for Season 1, “POWER” came much stronger in Season 2. The show broke ratings records for STARZ network by grossing 4.42 million viewers for the finale.

“Like my career, whenever it slows down a little, it’s only for it to speed up again,” Jackson told theGrio.com. “I’m having the same experience I had with music in television.”

The ‘experience’ he’s referring to is the commercial success of his first and second album: “Get Rich or Die Tryin‍” remains the best-selling debut studio album of a U.S. rapper, and his album “The Massacre” has sold 13 million copies worldwide.

“My first television show is the highest rated show in the network that I’m on, and they treat me like I just sold 13 million records,” says Jackson. “I feel great.”

While many recent headlines have focused on Jackson’s financial battles with bankruptcy, personal dramas, or whether his cash on Instagram was real or fake (it was fake btw), 50 Cent seems to relish playing the position of an underdog who shatters expectations.

“Maybe when people see how high the ratings are for my show they won’t overlook it,” he recently wrote.

We’re betting this season, they won’t.

POWER Season 3 premieres July 17 on STARZ and the STARZ app.
