We’ll get a check on housing with the June housing stats report. In May new construction fell by 4. 8 percent — due to a slowdown in multi-family homes, but building permits – a gauge of future building activity– rose nearly 8 percent.

We’ll gain insight on the economy with the June industrial production report– which tracks activity in manufacturing, mining and utilities. In may industrial production dipped slightly– as a decline in manufacturing offset gains in utilities and mining.

We’ll get a read on inflation with the June consumer price index report –which tracks price changes for food, clothing and energy—in May prices fell three tenths of one percent — its biggest decline in more three years — as gas prices declined.
