When Jay Z’s collaboration with Barneys New York came under fire last year after reports surfaced that the retail store racially profiled Black shoppers, the veteran rapper claimed he didn’t have enough information to take a stand against the allegations of racism.

“I am against discrimination of any kind but if I make snap judgments, no matter who it’s towards, aren’t I committing the same sin as someone who profiles?” he asked in a statement on his website.

Jay Z seemed to stall for more information — just long enough to see the deal with Barneys go through.
