Activist arrested while filming Syracuse cops frisking motorist

An anti-violence activist in Syracuse was arrested as he was filming police officers who were frisking a motorist in handcuffs.

Maurice Crawley was streaming the footage live to Facebook when one of the officers called out from across the street that he would be arrested if he said “one word.”

When Crawley asked the officer to repeat himself, the officer stalked over and put him under arrest, all the while swearing at him.

“Don’t f—— move, you understand me?” the officer says in the four-minute video obtained by “Don’t you f—— move, I am going to f— you up.”

At the beginning of the video, Crawley is filming a white officer and a black officer who are arresting the motorist, and Crawley explains to his audience that he is going to “see what’s going on with these boys, make sure they’re doing everything they’re supposed to be doing.”

On Friday, Crawley pleaded not guilty to charges of obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest, and he was released as a couple dozen Black Lives Matter protesters cheered.

“He was within his legal rights, yet he was thrown to the ground. We need this to stop,” said Black Lives Matter organizer Herve Comeau.
