Actor Mark Ruffalo petitioning NBC to stop hiring ‘white conservatives’

Mark Ruffalo is leading the charge to get NBC News and MSNBC to stop hiring “white conservatives.”

Ruffalo, best known for playing the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is upset over the hiring of the likes of Nicole Wallace, Hugh Hewitt, and George Will and wants Andrew Lack, the chairman of NBC News and MSNBC, to stop giving them air time.

“Sign the petition: Tell @MSNBC @NBCNews to stop the white conservative hiring spree,” Mr. Ruffalo tweeted.

— You don’t get to tell other people what racism is!’: MSNBC panel goes off the rails —

“Lack has pushed out Black and Brown talent including Melissa Harris Perry, Alex Wagner, Touré Neblett, Dorian Warren, Michael Eric Dyson, Adam Howard, Jamil Smith, Jose Diaz-Balart and Tamron Hall,” the petition states. “In fact, Lack has a history of replacing Black on-air personalities wherever he goes.7 America needs voices like these now more than ever, and we need to make it clear to Lack that we are paying attention and there will be consequences. Tell NBC executives: Stop the white conservative hiring spree at MSNBC.”

However, he’s gotten some pushback, including from Mediaite’s Joe Bilello, because he has been such a staunch supporter of diversity.

“Ruffalo, a self-proclaimed champion of diversity should be praising the network’s efforts to offer a more diverse and balanced approach to its lineup,” Mr. Bilello wrote. “NBC and MSNBC have not exactly been hotbeds for conservative opinions in the past. Is there really a need to limit their conservative voices?”
