On Sept. 30, a duo of  Albright College students were suspended after a video mocking Black women and the Black Lives Matter movement surfaced online.

According to WFMZ 69 News, the two students posted a series of Snapchat videos depicting one student in blackface gyrating around with padded pants. In the days following the video release, Albright College officials convened a student forum to discuss the racial incident that has thrown their Reading, Pennsylvania school into the national spotlight.

The 42-second clip depicts a woman in a red shirt sauntering around and giggling while in blackface. The woman introduces herself as “Karlisha” — a supposedly  “stereotypical” Black name. Before entering the hallway, she implies BLM is anti-white. “Black Lives Matter now,” she says. “F—- white people.” Subsequently, the woman starts to dance and “twerk” while the camera person cheers her on.

69 News reports that president Lex O. McMillan III asked the two students to leave campus immediately last week. However, McMillan requested that students be available to speak with college officials while the investigation continues.

“As we continue to investigate the matter,” McMillan tells 69 News, “we have learned that multiple students of multiple races were involved. We will continue to review the facts of the matter so that the most appropriate sanctions for those who took part can be determined.”
