Bill Cosby Admits In 2005 Deposition to Buying Drugs For Sex With Women

Bill CosbyFor months,  there has been little discussion in the rape and assault cases following comedian Bill Cosby. On Monday, July 6, recently released documents reveal that Cosby admitted to buying the prescription drug Quaalude to give to women he wanted to have sexual relations with.

The documents, dating back to 2005, come from a lawsuit filed by one of Cosby’s many accusers, Andrea Constand. Included in the lawsuit was a deposition, complete with the confession of Cosby purchasing the prescription drugs.

CNN reports, “According to the documents, Cosby was asked by attorney Dolores Troiani: “When you got the Quaaludes, was it in your mind that you were going to use these Quaaludes for young women that you wanted to have sex with?” Cosby answered yes.”

The article goes on to say, “The attorney then asked: “Did you ever give any of those young women the Quaaludes without their knowledge?” At that point, Cosby’s lawyer objected, stopping his client from answering. Cosby then clarified an earlier remark saying that he had misunderstood. He said he gave Quaaludes to other people, and he added: “I misunderstood. Woman … not women.”

Constand, who worked at Cosby’s alma mater, Temple University, visited him in 2004 at his home and was allegedly medicated. She then stated that she woke up in with her clothes off and bra undone.

Cosby and his representative have constantly denied all allegations and referred to them as false and have not yet spoken on the now public deposition.

More than two dozen women have come out to publicly accuse Cosby of the allegations over the span of 40 years.

Now 77, Cosby can’t be charged for a majority of the allegations since they no longer fall under the statute of limitations. CNN states that Cosby fought to keep the documents of the deposition private to protect himself and others. Though he can’t be tried for the allegations, accusers are relieved to see that the information has been released. Barbra Bowman, who accused Cosby of assaulting in the 1980s told CNN, “It’s huge. I’ve worked so long and hard to tell my story and screamed my story on to deaf ears.”

UPDATE: Soul Singer Jill Scott who in the beginning of all allegations defended Cosby, has now retracted her statement.Back in December of 2014 a twitter follower stated that she found it disheartening that Jill Scott would take up for Bill Cosby. Scott replied stating ”  I’m respecting a man who has done more for the image of Brown people that almost anyone EVER. From Fat Albert to the Huxtables.”  After learning of the information from the 2005 deposition, Scott took to twitter to express her disdain. “About Bill Cosby. Sadly his own testimony offers PROOF of terrible deeds, which is ALL I have ever required to believe the accusations.1) We live in America. Many African American men are detained &/or imprisoned for crimes without evidence. I will never jump on bandwagons.2) based on social media or hearsay. Proof will always matter more than public opinion. The sworn testimony is proof. Completely disgusted. I stood by a man I respected and loved. I was wrong. It HURTS!!! When you get it ALL right, holla.”

Jill Scott also posted a meme that says” Do not, I repeat, Do not allow anyone to sit high and look low to judge you. Everyone has a chapter in their life they don’t read aloud. Above the photo meme her tweet reads “Reasoning with the angry & unreasonable? No. I’m not sorry for standing by my mentor. I’m sorry the accusations Rtrue.”

Scott was one of few who rallied in support of Cosby Whoopi Goldberg also came to his defense when the allegations came about.
