Black Teacher Tries to Escape Raging Racist During Road Rage Incident Only to be Followed and Further Attacked

A John’s Creek man has been charged with disorderly conduct after police say he hurled racial slurs and insults at a teacher during a road rage dispute.

According to a police report obtained by WSB-TV, 49-year-old Eric DeKeyzer started yelling slurs at a man after following him into the parking lot of a local shopping center on April 6. Officers arrested DeKeyzer after the victim showed them footage of the racist outburst, which officers said took place in front of children.

“It’s shocking that it was so blatant,” Terrence Stover, who recorded the slurs being hurled at him, told the news station. “It’s wrong and it’s hurtful.”

Stover, a history teacher and football coach at South Gwinnett High school, said he noticed DeKeyzer driving erratically and following too closely as he traveled on a local road. It was not long before the teacher said DeKeyzer began shouting slurs at him at a stoplight.

“He rolls his window down and he starts saying a lot of racial slurs and shooting me birds, middle finger and stuff like that,” he recalled.

In an effort to escape his aggressor, Stover said he pulled into a shopping center parking lot. DeKeyzer was close behind, however, and continued insulting and degrading him.

“You called me a n—-r for no reason,” Stover says in the footage.

“Yeah because I knew it would get a f—ing rise out of you because you’re acting like one,” DeKeyzer shoots back.

Stover and witnesses called John’s Creek Police, after which he was taken to the Alpharetta Jail. He was later released on bond.

Stover maintains he did nothing to provoke the “barrage” of racist insults.
