Black voters are turning from Clinton to Trump, according to LA Times/USC poll

Hillary Clinton’s support among black voters has plummeted, and those voters are moving from her to the Republican candidate, Donald Trump, reveals a new poll released on Saturday.

According to the Los Angeles Times/University of Southern California tracking poll, Trump’s support among black voters skyrocketed by 16.5 percent, going from 3.1 percent to 19.6 percent.

Dan Schnur of USC noted that the huge collapse of support for Clinton began last Sunday after she was recorded collapsing at an event memorializing September 11, 2001.

Overall, Trump also enjoyed a 6-point bump in the polls to pull to a lead of 47.2 percent against Clinton’s 41.2.

“It’s the largest shift we’ve seen in a one-week period since we began polling in July,” Schnur said.

The rise in popularity for Trump also included the days in which he demurred on the “birther” issue, which he is largely credited with founding. On Wednesday, he passed on questions during an interview about whether or not President Barack Obama was born in the United States, a charge that has long been seen as a thinly-veiled racial jab.

However, on Friday, Trump held a press conference at his new hotel in Washington, D.C. to state, “President Barack Obama was born in the United States, period.”
