Brazilian artist catalogues human skin tones to redefine race

Brazilian artist Angelika Dass is currently working on her new project title Humanae. In an attempt to show that human beings are more than just black, brown and white, Dass placed her subjects in front of a wall painted in a Pantone color. Each Pantone color has an alphanumeric code. Dass chose the color closest to the individuals skin tone. The result is a commentary on the porousness of what we consider to be the importance of skin color and reconsider our definition of race as an identity.

Both visually stimulating yet simple, Humanae challenges the viewer to think about what their Pantone alphanumeric code might be.
