Brooklyn teen beat and blinded by bullies

According to New York Daily News a Brooklyn teen is blind in one eye after an attack from bullies in his middle school. During the June 5th incident in the cafeteria of Roy H. Mann Junior High school. Students say that 14-year-old Kardin Ulysse was attacked by two seventh graders who shouted insults at him calling him “gay” and “transvestite.”

The NY Department of Education reports that Kardin’s arms were pinned down by one student while another released punches on his face, head and neck. Kardin has since had two surgeries on his right eye and now needs a transplant. He wears glasses, so doctors don’t know if pieces of the broken glasses broke into his eye or if multiple punches caused the damage.

Kardin’s parents plan to sue the city for $16 million due to their alleged lack of student supervision. His father, Pierre Ulysse, said that he and his Kardin’s mother chose the school because they thought it was the best school in the area. He now has a change of heart, “We were wrong.”

A Brooklyn teen was left blind in one eye after a brutal assault by bullies shouting anti-gay epithets in the cafeteria of a city middle school, the Daily News has learned.

“My son is very upset. He says, ‘Daddy, am I ever going to be able to see again?’ ” Pierre Ulysse said Monday.

His son, Kardin Ulysse, 14, has undergone two surgeries on his right eye since the June 5 beatdown at Roy H. Mann Junior High School in Bergen Beach. It is unclear whether the bullies’ multiple punches or the broken shards of lens from his eyeglasses caused the damage to his cornea.
