Chicago Cubs star flips middle finger while posing with Trump during World Series champions’ visit

Chicago Cubs star Albert Almora says that he wasn’t flipping off President Donald Trump when the World Series champions came to the White House, but that’s what it looks like he’s doing in a picture of their visit.

The center fielder was wearing a smirk with his thumb in his pocket and at least his middle finger out, though after the picture started to garner attention, he insisted that his index finger was out as well.

“I had two fingers out. I’d never do that to the president of the United States,” Almora said, later adding, “We laugh about it now. But there were two fingers out there. Definitely two fingers.”

The Cubs had already been to the White House to celebrate their win while Barack Obama was in office, so it’s not clear why Trump asked them to visit. He did address the team’s visit as well as their struggling season thus far in his address to them, however.

“This is a great team,” Trump said in the Roosevelt Room. “They were actually here, but they wanted to be here with Trump, right?”

“Your team’s doing OK,” he added. “But you’re going to do great starting now, right?”

Trump also invited Dan Gilbert, the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, for pictures with the team. It is not yet clear why Gilbert was at the White House.
