Code for America Accepting Applications for 2015 Fellowship Program

Code-for-AmericaCode for America is now accepting applications through July 15 for its 2015 fellowship program. Code for America is a nonprofit organization that helps citizens and governments use technology to solve community problems.

This is a yearlong fellowship program where fellows work out of the San Francisco office and travel to other partner cities throughout the year. The fellows create and implement Web applications and explore new approaches to local problems that range from school bus tracking to social services access. Community-minded software developers, software and user experience designers, researchers and project managers are enlisted to work closely with government partners as they discover new ways that technology can help fix some of the problems that local governments face and share the outcomes with other communities. The Code for America fellows get an insider’s view of how the local government works, along with networking and mentoring opportunities with some of the biggest names in technology.

Since the Code for America fellowship was established in 2010, 102 fellows have joined 32 local governments across the U.S. to work on projects that include exploring alternatives to incarceration and creating new avenues for public participation.

“The Code for America fellowship gives citizens an opportunity to serve their country in the digital age,” said Nicole Neditch, fellowship director at Code for America.

Code for America is looking to assemble a diverse class of fellowship applicants with various backgrounds and a range of skills, expertise and interests.

To apply for the Code for America fellowship, submit your application at codeforamerica.org/apply by July 15.
