Dallas Pastor Frederick Haynes III defends Obama's gay marriage stance

The Huffington Post reports a black church leader in Dallas is coming out in support of President Obama stance on gay marriage. Rev. Frederick Haynes III, senior pastor at Friendship-West Baptist Church explained to members of his congregation that the president has an obligation to uphold the law as defined in the U.S. Constitution. Rev. Haynes went on to ask members of his congregation why they were so angry over gay marriage and that Jesus never says a word about gay marriage in the Bible.

A Dallas megachurch pastor recently gave a sermon that supported President Obama’s same-sex marriage stance and blasted fellow African-American leaders, according to TowleRoad.com.

Rev. Frederick Haynes III, senior pastor at Friendship-West Baptist Church, gave a sermon in which he criticized other religious leaders saying he “saluted” Obama’s decision to uphold the Constitution.

“Notice it does not say that all straight men are created equal. It does not say that all men unless you are gay or lesbian are created equal. He swore upon oath to uphold, protect and defend the Constitution, not the Bible, but the Constitution of the United States. He is not the pastor of the United States; he’s the president of the United States. And for the first time in the history of this nation, we have a president who has dared to use his position to make the Democratic promise available not just for a select few who are up and in, but for everybody regardless of their race, their creed, their color or their sexual orientation.”
