Did Tamron Hall Just Shade NBC’s Failing Bet on Megyn Kelly?

It’s been a year since Tamron Hall’s departure from NBC’s “Today” show and the veteran journalist chose to mark the occasion with a classic selfie outside her old stomping grounds.

“Heyyy,” Hall captioned to the photo, which showed her posing in her car outside Rockefeller Center in New York City where the popular morning show is taped.

Some fans viewed the post as snarky shade aimed at the NBC network, while others felt she was simply poking fun. Hall was part of the “Today” show crew for three years before she was allegedly blindsided by NBC executives’ decision to nix the third hour of “Today,” which she hosted alongside Al Roker and Natalie Morales. The network would fill the spot with a new show hosted by former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly.

“Some [friends] would call and say, ‘Oh my God, are you OK?’ ” Hall said after parting ways with NBC. ” And I was like, ‘What happened? Who died?’ And then there were other people who said, ‘What’s next?'”

NBC’s move to bump Hall for Kelly hasn’t been as successful as first expected, however. According to The Wall Street Journal, the three-year, $69 million dollar bet to lure Kelly from her primetime post at Fox is backfiring and has failed to bring the network a larger, broader audience.

“…Kelly has struggled to make the shift to daytime broadcast television, with its delicate balance of soft features and hard news. Her ratings declines and higher production costs have been a drag on a critical franchise for NBC,” the newspaper stated.
