Draymond Green, Others Listen Intently As LeBron James Recalls He and His Family’s Reaction to Dan Gilbert’s Letter

As LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors gear up for Game 5 in Oakland on Monday night, NBA fans were treated to a 30-minute barbershop conversation that showed a different side to the uber-competitive set. Shot during the All-Star game in New Orleans back in February, the ESPN-produced episode called “The Shop” premiered on Friday, June 9, and released on James’ multimedia platform, Uninterrupted.

Guests varied from rapper 2Chainz to music executive Steve Stoute. Activist and actor Jesse Williams, NBA legend Charles Oakley and James’ friends and business partners Maverick Carter and Randy Mims also were in the mix.

One of the highlights of the engrossing 30-minute episode was James recounting his wife, Savannah, and mom Gloria’s resistance to moving back to Cleveland.

“My mama and my wife was like. ‘F— that, I ain’t with that,'” James said.

His mom took it a step further, insisting she’s staying put in Miami: “You go back, I’m not going with you.”

Despite the resistance, James was on a mission. “It’s more of a bigger picture,” he said, before adding, “All these kids and all these people that need inspiration and need a way to get out. I believe I’m that way out.”
