Former ‘Scandal’ Star Columbus Short Takes $20K Monthly Loss in Legal Battle

Columbus Short child support Former “Scandal” star Columbus Short will have to fork over more than $20,000 a month in spousal and child support to his estranged wife Tanee McCall. He has also been ordered to pay McCall’s legal bills, a fee that will cost the actor another $25,000.

Short released a video of his wife attacking a friend of his in hopes it would help his case. He then made the brutal mistake of being a no-show in court.

When neither Short nor legal representation showed up for the family court appearance yesterday, the hearing immediately began to sway in McCall’s favor, according to TMZ.

The judge ordered Short to pay his estranged wife more than $17,000 a month in spousal support in addition to more than $4,500 in child support for their 2-year-old daughter.

Combined with the one-time payment toward McCall’s legal fees, that brings Short’s total for the first month to a whopping $46,547.

Columbus Short a no-show in family court After he gets those pesky legal fees out the way, Short’s monthly total will still stand at $21,547.

It seems appears that now was certainly not the best time for Short to get booted from one of television’s highest-rated programs.

Short’s legal troubles cost him his acting role in “Scandal” earlier this year.

The news came after he allegedly put a knife to McCall’s neck and was quickly hit with a restraining order.

Before that incident, he was also allegedly involved in a bar brawl and had been charged in connection with a domestic violence and child abuse case.

The judge’s ruling will hopefully bring an end to what has been an incredibly nasty legal battle.

Allegations have been flying back and forth between both parties since McCall filed for divorce after nearly a decade of marriage to Short.

Short accused his wife of being a violent woman with a short temper, while McCall accused Short of being the violent one – hence the restraining order against him.
