Fourth grader’s heartbreaking video about being bullied goes viral

It’s a sad scene. A 9-year-old girl sitting, facing the camera as she quietly flips through cue cards that talk about how she’s been bullied at school.

“I don’t have any friends,” one card reads. “I never felt included, liked or respected.” And “I don’t feel like anyone is helping or cares.”

The video was posted to her mother’s Facebook page and has since gotten over 5 million views and 161,000 shares. Her parents are hoping that this will lead to a shift somewhere.

According to her parents, Nasir Andrews has been getting bullied since she began at her new school in September.

Kids would call her names like “servant” and “Nutella.”

One student drew a picture of a loaded gun and put it in Nasir’s cubby. The only words on the page were “die die die die.”

“It’s just really difficult not knowing if your child is safe at school,” her mother, Chantey Andrews, said to CNN. “It just plagues the wholeness and the happiness of our family.”

Nasir is one of only about 40 black students at Ardmore Elementary School in Bellevue, Washington.

The district says it is “saddened” by what has happened to her. They also say they are investigating the allegations.

“We are very concerned about the well-being of all of our students,” it said. “The harassment, intimidation, and bullying of any student is unacceptable.”
