Fox News slams MSNBC for having Joy Ann Reid discuss Roseanne’s social media slurs

Fox News and their conservative viewers had a field day noting what they said is the irony of having MSNBC‘s Joy Ann Reid discussing Roseanne Barr‘s recent social media slurs and subsequent show cancellation.

Twitter Troubles

Reid, whose show AM Joy airs every Saturday and Sunday, was under fire last month when homophobic language in old tweets and blog posts resurfaced. After initially claiming she was hacked, then admitting to the tweets and a few of the blog posts, Reid eventually copped to the fact that she likely was not hacked and she apologized in an emotional on-air plea. She kept her MSNBC show.

Yesterday, Reid provided commentary on MSNBC about the controversy surrounding Roseanne Barr. The comedic actress’ eponymous sitcom on ABC was cancelled just hours after she tweeted offensive comments referring to former Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett as an ape.

Fox News and their viewers felt that Reid had no business adding commentary about a person’s misuse of social media, especially since she didn’t lost her job.

Reid was not deterred by her critics. She not only provided Roseanne commentary, but also co-hosted a town hall with Chris Hayes called Everyday Racism in America, which happened to feature Jarrett herself as well as Rev Al Sharpton.

Roseanne has issued an apology on Twitter and blamed Ambien for the tweets.
