‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ cast reunites without Uncle Phil

Now this brings back memories.

Recently, Alfonso Ribeiro, who played Carlton Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, took to Instagram to share a picture of himself with all his former castmates, with the caption, “Always amazing to spend an afternoon with my Fresh Prince family.”

In the photo is Will Smith, his TV sisters Tatyana Ali and Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, who played everyone’s favorite butler, Geoffrey, and Daphne Maxwell Reid, who played the second installment of Aunt Viv.

The only one missing from the Banks family was James Avery, who played Uncle Phil. Avery died in December 2013 after complications stemming from open heart surgery.

“Wishing that James Avery was still with us to make this complete,” Ribeiro wrote on the Instagram post.

Of course, the Internet couldn’t let this reunion fly without addressing the elephant in the picture: the original Aunt Viv, Janet Hubert, was not in the picture. “Where’s the real Aunt Viv,” wrote one commenter.

Check out the ‘family reunion’ pic!

Always amazing to spend an afternoon with my Fresh Prince family. Wishing that James Avery was still with us to make this complete.
