Gabrielle Union Talks Confidence as the True Source of Her Timeless Beauty

SensatioNail Introduces New Gel Fanatic, Actress Gabrielle UnionTo no surprise, Gabrielle Union was on the list of gorgeous celebrities to make People Magazine’s Most Beautiful list. While the magazine’s decision to put her on the list has a lot to do with her sheer physical beauty, Union opened up about the true source of beauty that comes from confidence and self-love.

When most stars open up about their beauty secrets, they dish about make up trends and diet choices.

Once they reach their 40s, many opt for fillers and other cosmetic procedures that will help it appear as if they haven’t aged (or moved their face) in years.

For Union, however, her beauty tips are all about realizing life’s truths.

The actress admitted that throughout her younger years she battled with personal insecurities, but as she aged she placed more value on loving herself rather than her external features.

“It has come with age,” she told People of the confidence she so effortlessly exudes today. “Age and continuing to read and travel and realize that nobody, except for mean girls, give a s**t about a dimple in a thigh or what your upper arms look like. If you carry yourself with confidence, and you move through the world with your head held high and your shoulders thrown back, you don’t need to be a [size] double-zero.”

That’s because, according to Union, people aren’t attracted to the physical aspects of a person as much as they are the type of energy they give off.

gabrielle-union-03-435“What people are attracted to is the fact that you’re attracted to yourself,” she said.

She even slammed the world’s new obsession with trying to look like a popular young reality star despite the fact that many of her admirers are almost twice her age.

“[My friend and I] were having this discussion the other day, somebody was like, ‘Uh, if I could just look like Kendall Jenner!” she told People. “I’m like, ‘Kendall Jenner is 12 years old [laughing], you are 44. Clearly you are going to need some other role models. You are going to kill yourself in an attempt to look like a child! It’s okay for Kendall Jenner to look like Kendall Jenner, and it’s okay for you to be fly and amazing and fit and a healthy 44-year-old woman.’ It’s okay to have a range of beauty ideals.”

That’s exactly why Union’s own beauty inspirations vary from pop queen Beyonce to acting and singing icon Diahann Carroll.

Other beauty icons she mentioned included the R&B bad girl Rihanna and songstress-turned-fashion designer Jessica Simpson.

Either way, she said it all just depends on who she has been “stalking on Instagram.”
