Global Fusion Festival unites cultural groups across Philadelphia

This past weekend, the Global Fusion Festival (GFF) in Philadelphia tried to bring together as many cultural groups represented in the city as they could fit together in one star-studded music festival. Now in its sixth year, GFF is the largest outdoor festival in Philadelphia, with over 30,000 guests present for the free concert, interesting food, and a wide range of other activities. The festival incorporates food, crafts for children and many giveaways, but the center of the event was the live music. On stage were artists such as Luke James, Kendrick Lamar and for the finale — Brandy.

True to form, the event also had salsa performers, and Puerto Rican pop musicians. Off stage, the food included Jamaican, Soul and of course your classic Philadelphia Cheese steak. One vendor, David K. Simms, CEO of Eatable Delights Catering, was especially excited to have the opportunity to have his business present for this uniquely entertaining event.

Celebrity guests took to the stage in an impromptu dance performance; Tisha Campbell, Faizon Love, Terry Crews and Kyla Pratt. There were also persistent rumors that Will and Jaden Smith might make an appearance. Colorful and fun-filled, Philadelphia’s Global Fusion disappointed few and left many with a feeling of unity in a city with a long history.
