Grio Good News Report: Wakanda at the Smithsonian: National Museum of African-American History

“Wakanda Forever” is not just a mantra from Black Panther, it has proven to be true. The movie superseded box office predictions making over 1 billion dollars world wide and is a cultural phenomenon. Now, the Smithsonian: National Museum of African- American History and Culture is ensuring that Wakanda will be etched in history for generations to come.

The museum has acquired several objects showcased in the history-making Black Panther film including: the hero costume worn by Chadwick Boseman and a shooting script signed by Ryan Coogler.

The objects will be displayed temporarily in October during the Smithsonian African- American Film Festival, but they’re in talks to display the objects permanently.

Black Panther celebrated the beauty of African culture and the power of knowing one’s history, which directly represents the museums goals.

Fingers crossed the museum works out a deal to house the objects permanently.
