Ivanka Trump on Fox: I did not expect this ‘level of viciousness’ in D.C.

On Monday morning, Ivanka Trump appeared on Fox & Friends, where she defended her father, President Donald Trump, and bemoaned the culture of Washington, DC.

She was, of course, asked about the ongoing Russia investigation as well as the Comey hearing on Thursday, where she said that “my father felt very vindicated,” adding that “all the statements that he has been making and feels incredibly optimistic.”

But the exchange that Twitter is talking about happened when Brian Kilmeade asked her: “Is it harder than you thought to stick to the things you want to do because of what keeps coming up, whether it’s the Russia investigation or something else?”

“It is hard,” she agreed, “and there’s a level of viciousness that I was not expecting.”

“I was not expecting the intensity of this experience. But this isn’t supposed to be easy. My father and this administration intends to be transformative, and we want to do big bold thins, and we’re looking to change the status quo,” she added.

Her comment immediately drew criticism online as Twitter was quick to point out that her father’s campaign had been filled with “viciousness,” from his first moments declaring Mexicans to be rapists to his attacks against Hillary Clinton and the Republican candidates he faced in the field.

Twitter had a field day dredging up all the many, many things that Trump had said on the campaign trail that was vicious and mean, then mocked Ivanka Trump for not thinking that her father was going to get it right back.
