Johnny Depp’s crime drama City of Lies about the deaths of rappers the Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac has been shelved for now ahead of its scheduled September 7 release date, Variety reports.

On Monday, a spokesman for the distributor announced the setback, but there’s no word on when and if the movie will hit the theaters. The story is based on the book Labyrinth, which tells the story of the police investigation into the deaths of rappers Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls, reports Variety.

This latest revelation is one of many questionable situations involving Depp. Last month on the City of Lies set, a manager claimed Depp punched him in the face and he is now suing the troubled actor.

Earlier this year, Depp did a Rolling Stone interview that left fans concerned about his drug and alcohol use.

Depp also settled a lawsuit against his former managers who he claimed had mismanaged his finances. They argued that he was careless with his spending.

Last year, Depp faced heavy criticism for domestic violence claims by his ex-wife Amber Heard. Depp denies the claims. His Harry Potter movie Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is set to be released in November.

Both cases occurred at busy intersections in major cities, and were six months a part. There have been documentaries, conspiracy theories, endless commentary and speculation as to what happened and most notably who was responsible since that time.

In City of Lies, Depp stars as a police detective, Russell PooleOscar winner Forest Whitaker is Jack Jackson, a journalist who examines allegations that the Los Angeles Police Department was behind a conspiracy related to the Biggie killing.
