Kendall Jenner ‘devastated’ by Pepsi, trusted ad would be ‘tasteful’

Kendall Jenner is reportedly “devastated” after the massive backlash against the Pepsi ad that she was involved in.

TMZ reports that the ad, which was filmed in Thailand, was never supposed to be released in the United States but that it made the rounds online, though that was probably helped along by the fact that Jenner said, in a since-deleted tweet, that the ad was “out now.”

“This is the first controversial campaign she has been involved with,” a source close to Jenner told ET. “Even though she had nothing to do with the production and the message of the campaign, she will be blamed for this since she is the face.”

The source went on to say that Jenner had not spoken out about the ad because she had signed an agreement with Pepsi not to speak out without approval.

“Kendall relied on Pepsi to do their due diligence and trusted that it would be tasteful,” the source added.

Pepsi has since released an apology for the ad, which has been taken down, in a statement on Wednesday: “Pepsi was trying to project a global a message of unity, peace and understanding (sic). Clearly, we missed the mark, and we apologize. We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are pulling the content and halting any further rollout. We also apologize for putting Kendall Jenner in this position.”
