Laverne Cox makes network TV history for upcoming role on CBS’ ‘Doubt’

Laverne Cox is making history as the first transgender individual to be a series regular on network TV with her upcoming role on CBS’ Doubt, while also maintaining her role on Orange is the New Black as well as starring in Fox’s upcoming Rocky Horror Picture Show.

“I’m really, really grateful to have a job as an actor,” Cox said during the Television Critics Association press tour. “I’m an avid TV watcher, and there are people in my community who watch a lot of TV. Growing up, I did not see people like me on television. That folks can have a character like Cameron, who is Ivy League educated, it’s wonderful. And to be a black transgender woman in that position on CBS is really special.”

“I visualized it, I dreamed it. I think you have to begin to manifest things before they happen and so I dreamed about it and I worked towards this moment for a really long time.
