Marc Lamont Hill on #KeithScott: The Weapon Will Always Be Black Bodies

On the Sept. 26 edition of “Democracy Now,” Morehouse College professor Marc Lamont Hill dissects the facts in the Keith Scott police-involved shooting.

In the short clip, Hill says that police do not intend to hunt down Black people. But the real issue is that police routinely see Black people as dangerous.

“There is something about Black bodies, particularly in public space, that make them viewed as more violent,” Hill explains. “The police officer intuitively thinks that this person needs a greater level of aggressiveness … They didn’t see a guy with a gun. They saw a Black guy with a gun … That type of presumption goes to a psychological level of racism … “
