Maya Angelou wasn’t just a poet, she was a Harlem landlord

In addition to being a poet and activist in her life, the late Maya Angelou was also a landlord in Harlem, and the property that she once owned has recently been sold, according to the New York Post.

The three-family townhouse, which Angelou purchased in 2002, sold for $1.98 million after initially hitting the markets in February for  $2.69 million.

The sale was completed with rental tenants already in the townhouse, which has laundry facilities as well as storage space for each family in the basement.

It is not yet clear who purchased the property, as it has not yet been filed with the city Department of Finance records.
