Mother Claims Her Son Was Attacked by Middle School Teacher Who Threatened to ‘Burn Him’ Alive

An upset parent alleged that her son’s teacher physically and verbally attacked him during an Agriculture lesson at Mac Williams Middle School in North Carolina.

The student’s mother who refused to be identified, told WTVD-TV her son was yanked by the Fayetteville teacher, spat on, and called a ‘nigger’.

The incident happened May 10 during an outside Agriculture lesson. According to the mom, a gang of students began throwing dirt, but the educator James Cochran singled her son out.

“From my understanding, he walked up to my son, grabbed him by the arm and told him he wanted to smash his head into a brick and burn him on fire,” the parent told the news source.

Cochran allegedly called the seventh grader the “N-word and told him it’s people like him that keeps him from doing his job” according to the mother. She said her 13-year-old shut-down completely after the incident and that it may have an everlasting effect on the child.

Cochran is suspended without pay according to school officials and could face charges brought on by the student’s mother. A current criminal investigation has been launched to look into the educator’s actions, the sheriff’s office confirmed.

Cumberland County Schools stated to the news source that they are “aware of the allegations” and are “investigating.”
