Nurse accussed of stealing dead patients credit card

A Florida nurse is accused of stealing credit cards from a patient who died in the emergency room at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Florida where she worked. Allegedly, she used the cards to buy plane tickets, bridal shoes and other items. She was arrested by Sarasota Police and is charged with seven counts of credit card fraud. The Florida Sun-Sentinel reports:

Within hours after a 63-year-old man died in the ER of a Sarasota hospital in June, his three credit cards were used to purchase airline tickets, bridal shoes, pay phone bills and other assorted items totaling over $1186.00, according to a news release from the Sarasota Police Department.

With some help from the hospital’s Public Safety Office, deputies were able to identify the suspect who made the grave crime — Margaret M. Nunn, a patient registration representative in the ER.

Nunn, 53, allegedly admitted to a detective during an interview in the jail that she had copied the deceased patient’s driver’s license information and his credit card numbers to make the purchases, the release stated.
