Officers Suspended Without Pay After Bizarre Altercation with NJ Pizza Manager

A New Jersey pizza store manager Mena Kirolos was attacked by two on-duty police officers over a botched order. Officers Rodney Clark and Courtney Solomon were seen roughing up the manager, pushing him against a wall, pulling on his shirt and dragging him outside, according to NY Daily News. The officers have since been suspended without pay.

The altercation took place after a complaint was made about online about a delivery issue. It’s unclear how the officers are connected to the complaint. Kirolos implied he didn’t fight back because they were cops, telling the Jersey Journal, “(I was thinking) ‘What can I do? He’s a police officer. I can’t do anything back.” An employee named Elsamina added, “We confront customers every day who fight with us, but he’s using his police powers.”

“The Prosecutor’s Office will fully investigate the allegations against these officers and prosecute in accordance with the law to ensure that justice is served,” said Hudson Prosecutor Esther Suarez on the organization’s Facebook page. “Officers who abuse their power and break the law must be held accountable for their actions.”

Clark and Solomon who joined the first in 2015 are expected in court on April 11. They have been charged with disorderly conduct, harassment and making terroristic threats.
