Many people are flocking to Susan B. Anthony’s gravesite in Rochester, New York to place their “I Voted” sticker on her tombstone. Anthony, noted suffragette, never lived to see the day when women could vote, making this gesture seem touching. However, what is overlooked in many American history books is that Anthony campaigned only for white women’s suffrage, going so far as to campaign against the suffrage for Black men, calling them “sambos,” and all but ignoring Black women completely (Ida. B Wells famously refused to march in the back of the White Suffragette March on Washington, which was the only way they would let her march).

Despite this rich and sordid history, thousands of people are waiting at Anthony’s gravesite to place their sticker, and many took to Twitter to tell about it. Some were emotional.

Luckily, many people quickly rushed to point out Susan B. Anthony’s less than intersectional platform. They brought tough love, and actual quotes to show how racist she really was.

Some people, remembering suffragettes who actually campaigned for all women (since there are more than just white women, and none of them had the vote during Anthony’s day), put out a call for late, great Ida B. Wells’ grave to get the same treatment.

One thing is certain:
