Rapper Jay Electronica Bashes Obama for Silence and Inaction on Grand Juries

Screen Shot 2014-12-09 at 3.55.10 PMAmidst the turmoil surrounding the grand jury decisions not indict the killers of unarmed Black men Michael Brown and Eric Garner, many people have expressed dissatisfaction with the president over the verdicts.

Hip hop recording artist Jay Electronica (aka Timothy Elpadaro Thedford) added his name to the list yesterday, sending out a barrage of tweets bashing the President for his apparent inaction.

“@barackobama you should be ashamed dog. Not because you’re black, but cause you talked all that glorious shit when you were running for pres,” Jay Electronica wrote.

He went on to call out the fact that he doesn’t believe Obama has any real power, tweeting “@BarackObama I know as the president of the USA you’re just a figurehead and can’t do much but damn man. Where’s your voice and nuts?”

This went on for over fourteen tweets in which Electronica seemed to become more and more upset with each tweet.

“Everybody knows who the true criminals are. F*ck all this politically correct sh*t,” the New Orleans native continued. “We live in a criminal nation, founded by rapists, mass murderers and robbers. so don’t tell me about “black on black” crime and then have the nerve to point a finger talking about crime and thugs. You motherf**kers are the supreme thugs.”

The rapper, who usually keeps silent himself in political matters, rose to fame after the release of the musical composition “Act I: Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge),” which was fifteen minutes of continuous music arranged around the soundtrack from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in 2007.  Fast forward to 2009 and the rapper continued his road to success with “Exhibit A” and “Exhibit C,” which won him the Sucker Free Summit Award for Instant Classic. Since November 2010, Electronica has been signed to Jay-Z’s label Roc Nation.

The London-based rapper is currently on the road with Common for the “Nobody’s Smiling” tour.
