Shaquille O’Neal Says Colin Kaepernick Waited Too Long to Start Protesting Police Brutality

On the Sept. 7 edition of FOX News’ “Fox and Friends,” Shaquille O’Neal talks about being inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame.

However, the interview veered off when a co-host asked O’Neal about his thoughts on San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick’s national anthem protest.

“To each his own,” Shaq says. “It’s something I wouldn’t do.” He adds that he has family members who have served in the military and as law enforcement.

Subsequently, O’Neal implies that Kaepernick waited too late into his career to care about police brutality.

“What happened last year? How come you didn’t decide to do this last year or the year before that or the year before that?”

Then, Shaq says boxing stalwart Muhammad Ali and NBA great Bill Russell began their careers protesting injustices against Black people.

“They were one way their whole career.”
