Steve Harvey Falls to Pieces During Tribute to Late Comedian and Friend Bernie Mac

On yesterday’s broadcast of the “Steve Harvey,” comedian Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer, D.L. Hughley and others paid tribute to late comedic legend Bernie Mac.

Mac, born Bernard Jeffrey McCullough in Chicago on Oct. 5, 1957, died Aug. 9, 2008, after a three-year fight with sarcoidosis. The disease causes inflammation in the tissue and, in Mac’s case, frequently attacked his lungs.

While wiping away a stream of tears, Steve Harvey presented Mac’s widow, Rhonda, and his loved ones with a plaque commemorating the comedian’s achievements.

“This is from the city of Chicago,” Harvey said. “It’s actually a proclamation that says in recognition of Bernie’s remarkable life and legacy, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has proclaimed today, Nov. 14, to be Bernie Mac Day in Chicago.”
