Student on Spring Break fatally shot during rap video filming

Ayana McAllister, 18, was on Spring Break in Washington when she was shot and killed on Monday evening.

Her father, Anthony McAllister, said that she was on break from Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina, when she was shot. He claimed that his daughter was watching a rap video being filmed when someone pulled out a gun and started shooting.

“That’s my baby. I just miss her warm smile. The close relationship that we have,” he said. “They were just spending time with him yesterday, several kids hanging out.”

Another woman on the scene was also shot and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police have not yet released any information on the shooter or a motive for the shooting.

Saint Augustine’s University expressed its condolences on Twitter, saying, “Please pray for the family, Anthony McAllister, ’88, wife Tyreese & daughter Ndaja, ’20, as they mourn the loss of their daughter & sister.”
