Style Watch: Solange Knowles shines in yellow
Solange Knowles has been garnering attention for her individualized approach to fashion, in contrast to her superstar sister’s more predictable sartorial choices.
“[My style] is very eclectic because I like taking risks, but always with a glamorous touch and some classic details. I am not obviously inspired by fashion and magazines,” Knowles told French Glamour, as reported by the Belfast Telegraph.
Her recent appearance at the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards on Monday in a sparkling yellow frock with embellished details prompted celebrity blogger Necole Bitchie to note Knowles’ fascination with a certain color: yellow.
“On Monday night, she lit up the room as she stepped out for the CFDA Fashion Awards held at Alice Tulley Hall in New York City,” the blogger writes. “For the event, she dressed in a yellow Marni Spring 2012 dress paired with yellow Missoni Sandals and a Marni handbag.” The African-American star watcher goes on in her post to detail numerous instances of Solange rocking bright yellow to parties, including the Met Costume Institute Gala — one of the most important fashion events of the year.
“Now, yellow isn’t the easiest color to mix and match,” Necole observes, “but over the past year alone, Solo has showed us how to rock yellow in various settings.” Take a look at Knowles’ various yellow ensembles. What do you think of her lemony looks?
Does Solange floss — or is her habit dross?
Regardless of what we think, we can’t stop her fashion ascent. The celebrity sister is already continually making headlines for her sense of chic, making waves as a Carol’s Daughter spokesmodel — and she might even branch into design herself.
“I think I could possibly dabble,” Knowles told Fashionista.com about potentially developing her own line. Fashion certainly favors those who make bold choices — and it takes absolute confidence to persistently brandish bright yellow.
Would you? Solange just might spark an all-yellow summer trend.
