Two University Students Cause an Uproar After Using Racial Slur In Videos

Two sorority girls are under fire after videos surfaced with them using the n-word.

One video displays a female student reportedly from Penn State University singing the N-word repeatedly in an elevator. She turns to the camera and yells, “You’re a fat n****r, suck my d**k’.” Her name is allegedly Kaitlin Listro who’s a member of the “PSU chapter of Alpha Chi Omega” -which is currently inactive- and is a Supply Major at Penn State, according to a social media user.

The second video shows another white female student whose name is allegedly Jasmine Barkley, a member of Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority and attends William Paterson University according to Twitter user Seun. The WPU student recorded a video on Instagram Live and asked her followers, “Is it appropriate for me to say n****r if it’s in a song and you’re singing the lyrics, or is it not appropriate for me to say n****r? Let me know.”

A Penn State student by the name of Seuntheactivist posted both videos online and tagged Penn State University in the tweet. “This is my university. Beyond ridiculous. @Pennstate y’all already know the deal. Just do your thing,” Seun wrote.

However, Penn State’s response has social media users enraged and calling the University’s statement “lazy”.

The college tweeted the following statement:

“Penn State’s embrace of diversity and inclusion, and opposition to prejudice and hate, are clear. We condemn racist messages, as they are hateful and violate our institutional values. We cannot, however, impose sanctions for Constitutionally protected speech, no matter how offensive.”

Twitter users quickly fired back at the University’s response and blasted Penn for their inactions.

The sorority ‘Delta Phi Epsilon’ released a statement following Barkley’s racist remarks.

“Delta Phi Epsilon International Headquarters has just become aware of an unfolding situation at William Paterson University… We are investigating the actions of one member and will take swift, decisive action to remove her or any member who does not uphold our values,” the statement reads.
