Venus Williams sued for wrongful death in fatal car crash

After a police report recently found that Venus Williams was to blame in a car crash that ended with an elderly man dead of his injuries, the tennis great is now being sued for wrongful death.

According to TMZWilliams is being accused of driving while distracted and entering an intersection on a red light, ultimately causing the crash that killed Jerome Barson, 78, who was a passenger in the car that his wife, Linda, was driving.

Linda T-boned Williams’ car, which she said was in the intersection when she had the right of way, and the damage from the crash was so great that the car was “crushed, the front windshield shattered, the airbags deployed, there was crush damage to the rear on the driver’s side, and the back window was shattered.”

Jerome suffered from massive internal bleeding, a fractured spine and massive internal organ damage and died on June 22 in the ICU. Linda suffered a cracked sternum and multiple broken bones but survived the accident.

Now, the suit against Williams is asking for, according to TMZ, “unspecified damages for loss of companionship for both Linda and their family, loss of earnings, pain and suffering, and medical and funeral expenses.”
