Warriors star Steph Curry not injured in multi-car crash near Oakland
Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry avoided serious injury after being involved in a three-car collision Friday morning on Highway 24 near Oakland, California.
According to espn.com, Curry was on his way to the Warriors shootaround when a driver in a silver Lexus lost control while making an improper lane change and struck the NBA star’s black Porsche. Curry stopped in the center median and waited for officers to arrive and about 10 minutes later, the driver of a black Honda lost control and rear-ended his Porsche, which caused further damage.
A California Highway Patrol spokesman stated that wet, rainy weather likely played a role in the crash. No one was injured or arrested and the two-time MVP made it to the team practice facility for shootaround after the crash. He later took to social media Friday afternoon to express his gratitude for coming walking away from the crash unharmed.
“Don’t need any reminders but All the Time God is Great and God is Great all the time! Appreciate all the texts,” Curry tweeted
Golden State coach Steve Kerr addressed the incident before Friday night’s 125-97 win against the Trail Blazers.
“He was a little shaken up like anybody would be getting into a car accident, but thankfully nobody was hurt and Steph’s doing fine,” said Kerr, who joked that Curry probably “has another car that he can drive.”
Curry has missed Golden State’s last seven games as he is dealing with a groin injury. He will also miss Saturday’s game against the Sacramento Kings.
Earlier this year, Curry formed his own production company titled Unanimous Media and inked a multi-year development and production deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment. The pact is the studio’s biggest-ever media deal with an athlete. Unanimous Media will focus on film and TV projects that have family, faith and sports themes.
