WATCH: ‘Whitney’ trailer dives into Houston’s drug use, disses, and relationship with Robyn Crawford

The first official trailer for Whitney has arrived and it’s packed with information about the late, great, icon, Whitney Houston. The highly-anticipated documentary directed by Kevin Macdonald will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday and features insights from the music world’s biggest players and her inner circle of family and friends.

The trailer may be short, but it certainly gives us hints about the topics it will delve into and secrets it will uncover about Whitney’s life.

We see famous faces like Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Clive Davis, and L.A. Reid weighing in abut their experiences with Whitney and hear from family members including her mother, Cissy Houston, her ex-husband, Bobby Brown, and her sister, Pat Houston, whom also served as an executive producer on the film.

“There were always a lot of secrets,” says Houston’s friend. “If you don’t resolve and deal with things, they never go away.”

It seems the producers held nothing back and dove deep into Houston’s life to answer long-standing questions about her drug use, her turbulent marriage, and her relationship with Robyn Crawford who is referred to as her “safety net” in the trailer.

The film will also highlight Houston’s relationship with her mother who was admittedly tough on her superstar daughter.

Viewers will also get to hear from Houston herself thanks to the inclusion of home videos that show her in some of her most vulnerable states. “People think it’s so easy and it’s not,” she says in one scene.

Other moments show Whitney Houston exhibiting some diva-like behavior, particularly when she shades fellow recording artist, Paula Abdul.

“Paula Abdul ain’t s—,” she says to her mother. “That girl is singing off-key on the record.”

Ouch.
