Collecting wedding dress photos seem to be on every bride-to-be’s to-do list as summer has started and romance is in the air. Many women head to the magazine racks and go online as soon as the ring is on their finger, looking for the perfect inspiration for their big day. One online bridal magazine that serves brides of color is MunaluchiBridal.com. We talked to the co-founder and editor-in-chief of Munaluchi Bride, Jacqueline Nwobu, about her gorgeous magazine that is helping brides-to-be discover their style.

Munaluchi’s chic print publication first launched in 2010 and is released twice a year in major bookstores across the US and internationally. The publication recently debuted its digital edition for the winter 2012 season. The second edition is going live next week on June 12, 2012.

You may be wondering what the word “Munaluchi” means? Jacqueline tells us, “The word ‘Munaluchi’ is a combination of two African names and means ‘Beautiful Work of God.’ It precisely describes our target demographic, brides of color, who are highly underrepresented within the bridal industry. We represent the voice of the bride of color, who yearns for visual representations of brides that look just like her, and daily beauty, hair and fashion inspiration to help plan her dream wedding.”

Munaluchi Bride successfully dispels the myth that weddings for women of color lack style and sophistication, providing a much needed representation of beautiful, well-planned weddings showcasing us in a positive light. The publication reaches a global market through its display of multicultural unions, bringing to the forefront the wide range of cultures that make up the black community.

Before launching Munaluchi, Jacqueline had no prior experience within the publishing industry. Now Munaluchi Bride magazine has obtained national distribution through major retailers such as Target and Barnes and Noble. Jacqueline has positively impacted an industry that she knew very little about with a stunning fashion outlet that represents women in the black community world wide.
