Why Joe Budden’s Co-Host Says Kanye West Wants to Be a ‘Wealthy White Man’

Podcast co-host Mal has a surprising theory about why Kanye West has been behaving the way he has as of late.

On the Wednesday, May 2 broadcast of “The Joe Budden Podcast,” Budden discussed the reasons why West has so much love for President Donald Trump and according to Mal, it’s because of a long-standing obsession with wealthy white men.

“Kanye is infatuated with wealthy white men,” he says. “Anybody that Kanye has said, ‘I’m the new…’ it’s always been a wealthy white man or a successful white man. I have never heard him compare himself to, he’s the new wealthy Black man.”

Budden mentioned that during Ye’s sit-down with Charlamagne tha God, he asked the rapper about successful Black people “and the n—- responded with successful white people.”

“That’s who he wants to be. He wants to be a wealthy white man,” Mal responds, which Budden agrees with.

And while West recently compared himself to Harriet Tubman and Nat Turner, over the years, the rapper and fashion mogul has likened himself to many white, male millionaires or billionaires. They include Steve Jobs, Michelangelo and Walt Disney to name a few.

“When I compare myself to Steve Jobs, or Walt Disney… Howard Hughes, David Stern, Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Jesus,” he said on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in 2013, “I’m saying these are my heroes.”

And it turns out Mal and Budden aren’t alone in their thinking about Ye’s interest in white men. Several listeners voiced agreement on Twitter.

“Kanye is obsessed with rich white men – Joe Budden podcast ,” a listener tweeted.

“This Joe Budden Podcast is everything. Kanye is for sure obsessed with wealthy famous white men,” someone else said. “Can’t believe I never picked up on that.”

“‘Kanye is infatuated with wealthy white men. Any time he’s said ‘I’m the new ..’ it’s always been a successful white man.’ @MAL___ with the insight ,” another user said. “Let’s call it an unhealthy infatuation, too!”

A fellow podcast listener said Mal’s comment, “is the absolute Truth and one of the realest moments of the program.”
