You don’t get to tell other people what racism is!’: MSNBC panel goes off the rails

During a discussion about the recent apparent snub of April Ryan by White House press secretary Sean Spicer, an MSNBC panel got completely derailed by an argument about racism.

MSNBC’s Chris Jansing assembled a panel and spoke about the fact that Spicer had since claimed that the back-and-forth between himself and Ryan was not motivated by race, but Jason Johnson just wasn’t buying it. “I don’t believe him. I think it was offensive. I think it was inappropriate. I think it was racist. I think it was sexist,” Johnson said.

That’s when Matt Schlapp, who is the chairman of the American Conservative Union, stepped in and sad that while Spicer had been “too feisty,” it was “not racism” for him to have acted the way he did.

“You don’t get to tell other people what racism is!” Johnson replied.

Schlapp shot back, “You don’t either!”

“You don’t experience it!” was Johnson’s response.

The panel then exploded into chaos, but even after some semblance of control was established, Schlapp was still maintaining that not everything is about racism or sexism, while Johnson said, “This is the exact kind of aggression and lack of respect that we’re talking about.”
