How to Make the Right Decision, Every Single Time

Life Mapping workshop at the Happy Black Woman Hawaii Retreat!

“If what you are doing is not moving you towards your goals, then it’s moving you away from your goals.” – Brian Tracy

We had a great time at our Happy Black Woman Hawaii Retreat! It was a week full of learning, connection and FUN!

One of our wonderful attendees summed it up so beautifully in her blog post reflecting on the week-long experience:

“It all starts with a mindset. We have to be ready to receive. We have to stop limiting ourselves. There were two televisions in my suite and not once did one of them get turned on. I got so much work done in Hawaii because I was completely focused and I will keep that going while I’m here. I worked on my business and was able to have a fantastic time on the island. Good food, drinks, friendships, atmosphere … it was everything.”

One of the themes of our Hawaii retreat was the importance of getting clarity on what you really want and making decisions that support those goals. As bizarre as it sounds, we often make decisions that lead us in the complete OPPOSITE direction of our ideal lives!

If you’ve been struggling with taking action on the big goals and dreams you have for yourself, the first thing you want to do is get clear on what you really want. (You can do this with our FREE Life Mapping Workbook and create your own Life Map, just like the ladies did at our Hawaii retreat! Click here to download the workbook.)

The second thing you need to do is get OUT of your head. Your lizard brain will try to convince you that you don’t know how to move forward, which is just not true. The lizard brain spends too much of your precious time agonizing about whether you’re making the “right” decision.

The truth is, there is no one you can ask who would be able to tell you that. You are the only person who knows what’s best for you.

Besides, there are really no “right” or “wrong” decisions.

There are decisions that either support your goals or do not support your goals.

If you want to travel the world, getting a passport would be a decision that supports your goal. Spending all your extra money on clothes instead of saving it for a flight to Paris would not.

If you want to quit your job and be self-employed, working on your business every evening after work would be a decision that supports your goal. Plopping yourself in front of the TV for hours at a time would not.

If you want to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle, exercising several times a week would be a decision that supports your goal. Eating fried chicken and cheese fries for lunch every day while sitting at your desk would not.

So…be honest with yourself.

The next time you are faced with a decision (and keep in mind that NOT making a decision is still a decision), ask yourself:

Is this a decision that supports my goals?

If the answer is NO, it’s not the right decision for you to make.

Leave a comment: Are you making decisions that support your goals or ones that don’t? Which decisions so you need to make right now?
